How do I know if my message has been read?
A read receipt asks the recipient to let you know when they open your message. They can refuse, and some mail services, including Gmail, never send them.
Step by step
In the new message window, tick Demander un accusé de lecture (Request a read receipt). The box is never ticked in advance.
Send the message as usual.
When the recipient accepts, a message arrives in your mailbox: « Lu par … le … » (Read by … on …), with the subject of your message.
To see where a message stands, open it in Envoyés (Sent): under its header, a line tells you, for example « Accusé de lecture demandé : aucun reçu pour l’instant. » (Read receipt requested: none received yet.)
Good to know
- Someone asks you for a receipt? Under the message, « L’expéditeur demande un accusé de lecture » (The sender requests a read receipt) offers Envoyer l’accusé (Send the receipt) or Ne pas envoyer (Don’t send). Opening the message does not send anything on its own.
- If the receipt would go somewhere other than to the sender, ArkiaSuite warns you first, with an « Attention : … » (Warning: …).
- Your answer applies to all your devices: the request does not come back.
