How do I copy someone in (Cc or Bcc)?
Putting someone “in copy” means keeping them informed: they get the message without being the person it’s addressed to. In Cc, everyone sees it; in Cci (Bcc) (blind copy), nobody else knows.
Step by step
Open a new message, or a reply.
On the À (To) line, put the person you are writing to.
To keep someone informed, for everyone to see: click in the Copie (Copy) field, on the Cc line, type the start of their name and choose their address.
To copy someone without the others seeing: use the Copie cachée (Bcc) field the same way, on the Cci (Bcc) line.
Several people? Separate the addresses with a comma. Write your message, then click Envoyer (Send).
Good to know
- Addresses in Cc are shown to every recipient. Those in Cci (Bcc) are shown to nobody, except you.
- Répondre à tous (Reply all) includes the people who were in Cc, never those in Cci (Bcc): a blind copy stays hidden.
